A couple of smart watches Fitbit receive a firmware update after fears of injury were generated.
The ACCC said the update was being implemented to obtain a sense of Fitbit and the Fitbit Versa 3 clocks after it was discovered that the battery could overheat.
An overheating battery could represent a risk for users.
Fitbit considers its new update “mitigate the risk of battery overheating on those devices,” said the ACCC’s product security notice.
The owners do not need to return their fitbits to receive the update.
Not all Versa 3 devices and Sense Fitbit are affected.
If they are, the new battery management system will be activated, said the ACCC.
Once the firmware update has been installed remotely, people can continue using their normal devices.
Consumers can exercise their rights to a remedy in accordance with consumer guarantees, which can entitle a refund or replacement.
