Nintendo Switch 2 launch – live: Console reveal just hours away

The price of the Nintendo Switch 2 seems to be the thing that most analysts struggle to predict. I hope it won’t be much more than the cost of the Nintendo Switch OLED, which was priced at £ 309.

In a recent earnings call, Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, hinted that the new console could remain relatively affordable. During a V&A following the results of the company’s third term, he said Nintendo prioritizes “the affordability our customers expect from Nintendo products”-although he acknowledged that high inflation and Donald Trump’s export tariffs can still play a role.

Analysts who talk to Ign Predict a price of about $ 400 (£ 309), which is $ 50 more than the OLED in the US. If the same upliftment transfer to the UK, the Switch 2 can come in about £ 359.99.

With rumors suggesting that you can order the Nintendo Switch 2 this week or next, the big question is: When will it actually end up on your threshold or on the shelves?

I have my own theories, just like some high-profile insiders. On January 13, Games Insider Nate the Hate was the first to correctly unveiled Nintendo’s plans to reveal the Switch 2 on January 16. In his podcast, he speculated that the console could start in May or June – a timeline also supported by the publication of the game industry VGC.

I also think Nintendo’s practical strategy offers some clues. The company offers experience days around the world in April, May and June. It makes me think that the Switch 2 will start after the final event, which will take place on June 1 in Seoul.

My bet? We will see the console arriving in the first week of June, but it is just speculated.

One of the earliest rumors around the Nintendo Switch 2 was the potential of supporting 4k games. While Nintendo has not confirmed anything yet, a 2021 patent suggested that the company investigate 4K skilations.

The rumor got more traction in September when Video games Chronicle reported that the sources saw the Switch 2 an improved version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at Gamescom with improved resolution and framework compared to the original switch.

VGCThe sources also claimed that the console was running The matrix wakes up Tech Demo, originally designed to show the power of the PS5 and Xbox Series X using NVIDIA’s DLSS scaling and advanced jet tracking, with footage that is reportedly comparable to the high-end systems.

However Insider gamingTom Henderson heard from developers that this may not be the case. “I heard it from one developer at GDC and also heard it separately in ‘Ne post, but the Dev sets, or some of the Dev sets, did not have a 4K output,” Henderson said in the Insider Gaming Weekly Podcast.

That said, DEV sets usually do not have the same specifications as you would get on a launch machine, so it can still support 4K.

Last week, a major trader may have accidentally revealed the pre -order date for the Nintendo Switch 2. On March 27, Best Buy Canada briefly published (then quickly deleted) a blog post claiming that pre -orders would open on April 2, directly to the Nintendo Direct.

The timing would reflect the original Switch launch in 2017, when the pre-orders were available immediately after the unveiling of the console.

However, a new report by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming proposes differently. Internal emails and documents from a large US retailer, seen by the outlet, indicate that pre-orders will go directly on April 9-a full week after the event.

The report also claims that the retailer expects shares to sell out on the first day due to limited allocation of Nintendo.

The new Nintendo Today app has just been updated with a fresh promo video, and it confirms everything, but confirms one of the Switch 2’s most spoken rumors: that the Joy-Cons will double as a computer mouse.

When Nintendo released his first trailer for the Switch 2, Eagle-Eyed fans saw a joy-con over a surface like a mouse, which is an indication of the mouse-like functionality. Patents released in February supported it, with an explanation of how the new controllers can work independently for the input of the mouse style.

Now, in the new ‘One Day to Go’ -Tel video, the console is shown in different configurations – handheld, dock and tabletop. But in that final mode, one of the Joy-Cons lies on his side, in the exact same sliding-mouse-like orientation seen in the original trailer.

Nintendo will host its Nintendo Direct tomorrow on Wednesday, April 2 at 2pm, and it will be flowed directly on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

In addition to setting out something new with the hardware and software, I also expect Nintendo to announce the Switch 2’s exemption date, prices and launch titles.
