Fire restrictions were loosened in parts of Otago, fire and emergency confirmed this morning.
The central areas of Otago, Naseby and Upper Waitaki have moved from a banned fire season to a restricted fire season at 8am today.
This means that outdoor fires are now allowed as long as they have a permission granted by FENZ.
Licenses are no longer necessary for outdoor fires in Strath Taieri at an open season, although fires in conservation lands in the area still need permission.
The ban on fireworks in the center of Otago and Upper Waitaki was raised. They are still prohibited in special risk zones of Naseby and Lake ōhau.
