None of 134 Irish politicians who responded to a Sky News survey will support Conor McGregor’s ambition to become the country’s president.
Remarks ranged from ‘not a heap in hell’ to ‘I couldn’t think of anyone anymore’ and ‘I really would have had a president’.

McGregor used a St. Patrick’s Day meeting with Donald Trump in the Oval Office To promote its purpose to promote in the election, which must be held by November.
Days later, he formally announced on social media that he will seek elections and stand on an anti-immigration platform.
Candidates must obtain the support of 20 Oireachtas (Parliament) members, or the support of four of the Ireland local authorities to stand.
There are 234 Oireachtas members: 174 TDs or members of the Lower House, the Dail, and 60 Senators.
Sky News each asked if they would give McGregor a nomination. A total of 104 TDs and 30 senators replied.
Each of the 134 politicians said they would not support McGregor. No one chose the ‘maybe’ option.

Sky News asked: Would you nominate McGregor for a presidential candidate? Irish politicians answer:
“I consider him a tough, moronic vulgar. I would never consider him a suitable person as a nomination. ‘ – Senator

Sky News approached McGregor’s representative for commenting on our findings. No one has been received yet.
If McGregor prefers to follow the council route to a nomination, he may not find it much easier, according to Gary Murphy, professor of politics at Dublin City University.
‘The problems there were also dominated by the political parties. And that’s why I think he would find it extremely difficult to get on the ballot.
“Now there’s a big independent voice in Ireland, and maybe McGregor is aimed at it, but the problem with that independent voice here in Ireland is that it is very left wing and he is not.”
Many people don’t believe McGregor really wants to be president
It is not an exhausting or a very scientific poll, and several independent politicians with a strong will have refused to give a view, despite repeated emails, calls and whatsapps.
So it is still possible for Conor McGregor to collect some nominations from the Oireachtas … he would ask for it.
But the 134-strong no-camp-combined with the stunning answers we received-painter a picture of the strength of opposition to McGregor running.
That’s natural, if he accepts that he really wants to be president. There are many who do not believe that he does.
About someone can run in the Irish general election, and we had one of the short months ago.
McGregor was nowhere to be seen. But every time he posts about his political ambitions, he is praised by a mostly American fanbase as the ‘Irish Trump’.
It could be a strategy to further burn its reputation and brand in America, rather than a sincere desire to embrace a limiting seven -year symbolic public service at home.
