The top vaccine regulator in the US resigned over the anti-vaccine attitude of Donald Trump’s health chief.
Dr Peter Marks said Robert F Kennedy Jr’s ‘Misinformation and lies’ is ‘irresponsible, detrimental to public health, and a clear danger to our country’s health, safety and safety’ in his letter of resignation.
A person familiar with the case said that Dr Marks was forced out of his position, according to Sky News’ partner Newsroom NBC News.
“If Peter Marks does not want to realize to restore science to his golden standard and promote radical transparency, he has no place with FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy,” a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services said.
The scientist, who played a key role in the authorization of the first Covid Vaccines in 2020 said he was prepared to work with the health secretary to address any concerns about the safety and transparency of vaccines.
“However, it has become clear that truth and transparency are not required by the secretary, but he would rather have a submissive confirmation of his wrong information and lies,” Dr Marks wrote.

He has led the Food and Drug Administration Center for Biological Evaluation and Research since 2016.
The section ensures the safety and efficacy of medical products, including vaccines.
Secretary Kennedy, an anti-vaccine activist, was critical to Covid vaccines and in 2021 submitted a petition from the citizens requesting that the FDA revoke the authorization of the vaccines.
He called the Covid vaccine the ‘most dead vaccine ever made’, as well as to confidence in the measles Vaccine amid the biggest outbreak the United States has seen since 2019.

Although he said vaccines protect children from measles, he also said that the decision to vaccinate is a ‘personal’ one.
“The ongoing outbreak of multistate measles that are especially in Texas reminds us of what happens as trust in established science underlying public health and well -being,” Dr Marks wrote in his letter of resignation.
“Measles, which killed more than 100,000 undisturbed children in Africa and Asia last year due to pneumonitis and encephalitis caused by the virus, were removed from our banks.”
