The Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, responded to Vance in a statement to the Danish media.
“For many years, we have kept Americans in very difficult situations,” he said, referring to the Danish combat deployments along with US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The Vice President’s reference to Denmark is not precise,” he said, expressing his willingness to “cooperate day and night with Americans” on Arctic’s security.
Vance was accompanied by his wife Usha, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Utah Senator Mike Lee, and former National Security Advisor Julia Nesheiwat, who is Waltz’s wife.
The United States delegation approached the Dos Air Force to get out of Greenland just before 4:00 pm (1800 GMT), with the Vances stirring at the top of the plane stairs.
