At least 144 people were killed and 730 others injured in Myanmar after a mighty earthquake, according to the head of the country’s military government.
“The death toll and injuries are expected to rise,” said senior general mina Aung Hlaing on television.
The 7.7 earthquake struck around the local time at a level of six miles, with the epicenter, about 10 miles from the second city of Mandalay. There were also aftershocks, with one measuring a strong 6.4 size 12 minutes later.
Pleasant Thailand was also shocked by the earthquake, with nine people dying in the capital Bangkok, including eight dying after a skyscraper, which was under construction, collapsed.

Rescuers who are looking for the ruin of the tower block for survivors said more than 100 people were missing.
Footage showed that the peak in the Chatuchak area crashed to the ground as people run away from the scene.
In MyanmarBuildings in five cities and towns have collapsed, along with a railroad bridge and a road bridge on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, reports the state media.
Images showed the destroyed Ava bridge over the Irrawaddy River, with its bows leaning in the water.
A rescue worker from the Moe Saydanar Charity Group said it captured at least 60 bodies of monasteries and buildings in Pyinmanar, near the capital Naypyidaw, and more people.
‘Building has collapsed before my eyes’
“We all ran out of the house when everything started to shake,” said a Mandalay resident.
“I saw a five -story building collapses in front of my eyes. Everyone in my city is on the road and no one dares to go back into buildings. ‘
Another resident of Mandalay said the destruction spans the entire city, and one neighborhood, signal pan, was on fire.
Roads were damaged, telephone lines disrupted and there was no electricity, they said.
Other eyewitnesses said three people were dead while praying when a mosque partially collapsed in the Bago region. Images also emerged from a destroyed temple in Naypyidaw.
Meanwhile, local media reported that at least two people were killed and 20 were injured after a hotel in Aung Ben collapsed.
Civil War in Myanmar
The natural disaster comes because the country is in the grip of a civil war.
The ruling military junta said a state of emergency in Sagaing region, Mandalay region, Magway region and the northeastern Shan state, the Nay Pyi Taw Council area and Bago region were declared.
The junta added in a statement: “The government has ordered a quick investigation into the damage in these areas, we will do relief and relief immediately. We will also work to provide the necessary disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.”

Meanwhile, hundreds of people threw out of buildings in Bangkok, with many buildings evacuated.
The city is home to 17 million people and many live in high apartments.
Alarms went down in buildings, as the earthquake hit local time (06:30 UK time) around 1:30 p.m.
Social media footage has shown that water is poured on the roof next to the buildings of pools.
All flights in and out of Bangkok normally work after the earthquake, the country’s Civil Aviation Division said on Friday.
