A powerful earthquake of 7.7 magnitude hit Central Myanmar todaySend tremors to Bangkok, and asks the Thai Prime Minister to declare a state of emergency.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) and was centered about 17 km from Mandalay, Myanmar’s second largest city. The initial tremor followed a strong aftershock of 6.4 shame.
There were no immediate reports about accidents or damage from Myanmar.
Mandalay social media posts showed collapsed buildings and debris across the streets, although it could not be verified independently.
In Bangkok, a high building under construction near the city’s Chatuchak market collapsed, police confirmed, but details of casualties remained unclear.
Dramatic footage distributed on social media has shown that the structure crumbles in a cloud of dust as viewers scream and run.
“The whole building suddenly started moving, immediately screaming and a lot of panic,” said Fraser Morton, a Scottish tourist who was in a Bangkok mall at the time.
“Initially, I just started walking quietly, but then the building really started to move. People took off the wrong escalator, cracked a lot and crashed into the mall. ‘
The earthquake feels in all regions of Thailand, says the authorities
Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention said the earthquake is felt in almost all regions of the country.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Central Myanmar, about 50 km (30 miles) east of the city of Monywa. In the capital Naypyitaw, the earthquake damaged religious shrines and sent parts to the ground and some homes.
Further reports on damage were not immediately available from Myanmar, which was embraced in a civil war.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra called an emergency meeting to judge the impact of the earthquake.
The larger Bangkok area is home to more than 17 million people, many of whom live in high apartments.

Alarms went down in buildings when the earthquake hit around 1:30 pm, and shocked residents were evacuated in stairs of high condoms and hotels in densely populated central Bangkok.
They stayed in the streets and searched for the earthquake of the afternoon sun in the minutes.

Building falls in Bangkok out of earthquake
A HIGH BUILDING built in Bangkok collapsed after an earthquake of 7.7 Thailand and the neighboring Myanmar on Friday afternoon said police, and police are not yet known.
A dramatic video spread on social media showed that the multi-story building with a crane collapses at the top of a dust cloud, while viewers scream and run.

Police told The Associated Press they were responding to the scene near Bangkok’s popular Chatuchak market, and had no immediate information on how many workers were on the site at the time of the collapse.
The afternoon -temblor was followed by a strong aftershock of 6.4 scope, and people in Bangkok who were evacuated from their buildings were warned to stay outside in case there was more.
According to the provisional reports, the US Geological Survey and GFZ Center for GFZ for Germany are a level 10 km (6.2 miles), according to preliminary reports.

Strong 7.7 size earthquake rocks Thailand and Myanmar
A massive 7.7 -scene earthquake hit Myanmar on Friday, with equally strong tremor shuffling the neighboring Southeast Asian country Thailand.
The earthquake hit a depth of 10 km, about 17.2 km from the city of Mandalay in Myanmar, which has a population of 1.2 million people, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
There was no immediate report on Myanmar’s casualty about the damage after the earthquake, but the strong jerk forced hundreds of people in the Thai capital Bangkok to chase panicked from the buildings. The earthquake was powerful enough to send water out of the pools.
