Apart from the absence of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in the lineup, the oilers have been playing, and there is always a potential concern that adrenaline may wear out and reality may be in a difficult situation.

The fear became a lively horror show in Seattle Thursday night, with a mediocre Clake team not defeating Edmonton’s nine attempts, dating back to 2023 and mid-to-mid-week.

Oilers winger Zach Hyman said: “We just stopped working and made too many mistakes and they took advantage of a bunch of them. “The foundation of our game is work; if we don’t work, especially people outside the roster, we don’t have a chance.”

Seattle’s five-game goal sealed Edmonton’s doom in an 11-minute cycle crash and raised serious concerns about the team’s remaining 10 games this season, as their top players still can’t get into the starting goal.

Very ugly.

“It started in the first class,” said head coach Kris Knoblauch. “We switched the puck a few times and we were forced to get fines and they scored on it and after that we just rolled up.

“When we missed some of the top players and we were in a back-to-back second game, it was the importance of simplifying the game. We got rid of that.”

Apart from Mcdavid and Draisaitl, the Oilers have no defensive player Mattias Ekholm, who has returned to “maintenance” after just four games after his previous injury.

It turns out that the hole in the blue line was the most obvious absence of the night.

It’s purely tragic comedy, as Edmonton defenders are allergic to their own creases, making Seattle Freerone catch anything they do on the Oiler’s Web.

The Oilers had some really good fights because they had to be without McDavid and Drexel, but they were trending. They beat Seattle 5-4, they beat the stars 4-3, and now they have just been destroyed by a team with a 0.458 win rate.

The only good news at night was that the Kings also lost, so the Oilers were only two points in the second place in the Pacific Division.

Next up, however, is the Calgary Flames, which is writing the book about how to win without any superstars.

Late Hit – Rodrigue stopped seven of eight shots in the third stage. The only shot that beat him was a lucky batsman (backhand, no more)… Viktor Arvidsson and Vasily Podkolzin respectively made three points in the loss….. Nurse Darnell even finished the game at 25:39 ice time.
