The special investigation department was called after multiple car accidents involved at least one police cruiser in Brampton.
Peel police said four vehicles were involved in the crash before 4:30 p.m. before the intersection of Mississauga Road and Steel Avenue on Thursday.
According to police, the two were taken to the hospital and suffered life-threatening injuries. It is not clear whether the police were injured.
Police officials did not provide further details about the circumstances that led to the crash, citing SIU’s involvement in the case.
SIU is an independent government agency investigating the conduct of officials who may result in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or release of firearms to someone.
