Denver – According to the agency, around 600 pounds of marijuana scheduled to be destroyed from an evidence trailer of the state patrol of Colorado last week were stolen.
The theft was discovered on Friday morning when an evidence technician was carrying out a property tutorial of the Arapahoe County facilities, according to a press release from the state patrol of Colorado.
State patrol officials believe that marijuana was stolen after nightfall three days before on Tuesday, April 1, according to the statement.
The suspects have not been publicly identified, but state patrol officials said the thieves used an electric tool to eliminate a blockade at the doors of the evidence installation.
“The verifications of the security cameras system and the external property tutorials have increased to identify the fastest safety problems and guarantee the integrity of the evidence,” said officials in the statement. “Now an integral internal investigation is being carried out to determine whether the established protocols were violated.”
There was no active case that involved marijuana and no other evidence was stolen, state patrol officials said in the statement.
A report was presented to the Englewood Police Department, and the state patrol of Colorado is actively investigating the robbery.
