In the name of the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union, we accepted the renunciation of the Tony Hargood chief after 11 years of service to Rugby Union.

Tony had nominated for the board in December 2023, he would be advising his plans for 2024. Tony was appointed CEO in February 2013, when WBRU was placed under administration by NZRU, as WBRU was insolvent.

11 years later, Tony leaves the union with a $ 1 million $ 1 million balance sheet of $ 1 million, soon a record number of players registered since he started in 2013, players programs that earned 3 representatives of New Zealand and 5 other NZ representatives.

Tony brought innovation to the game with live broadcast and well-being programs (beware of his companions and awareness of alcohol), the re-development of the park memorial with the lawn and the artificial lights and, most importantly, a business model that provided financial benefits of $ 250,000 for its stakeholds and clubs.

Tony will continue on his role until April 30, 2025 to provide the board with a soft transition to the 2025 annual meeting.

Tony’s reason for the resignation was that he thought he had achieved the established goals and 2025 has represented 30 years involved in Rugby since he became a professional in 1996. Tony has a final rugby project for 2025, which will announce details of the new year to end his 30 -year involvement in the game as ex -joiner, coach, repetition and administrator. It is a national project and it has been housing for years to complete.

The board will seek to announce a replacement in November 2024.
