Like many of you, I was steeped in Dandadan, Solo Leveling and Re:Zero during this winter’s anime streaming run. Now that it’s spring, it’s time for a new lineup of action, fantasy, comedy and classic anime titles. We’re getting closer to Netflix’s release window for The Summer Hikaru Died, but over the coming weeks, fans can stream Lazarus, Fire Force, One Piece and more.

The sci-fi action series Lazarus makes its debut on Adult Swim on Saturday, April 5. Hailing from Shinichirō Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop fame, the show is set in 2052, and a wonder drug called Hapna has enabled humans to live without pain. It’s discovered that there is a fatal side effect that shows up after three years. Anyone who’s taken it will die — even if they’ve only taken it once. With humanity fated to go extinct, a group of agents set out to find its creator, Dr. Skinner, and a vaccine. But where is he, and what are his true intentions? Lazarus airs on Adult Swim at midnight and streams on Max the next day.
The Beginning After the End
Making its anime debut, The Beginning After the End brings the story of a reincarnated king to Crunchyroll. Arthur Leywin was the 30-something King Grey in a past life, and he’s retained that knowledge and experience in his new life as a young man gifted at magic and adventuring. Seeking to find meaning in life while reconciling past errors and wrongs, the former king must learn how to navigate a world of dragons, elves and old deities who teach him genuine lessons about war, kindness and purpose. Watch the premiere on April 2.
Wind Breaker, season 2
It’s the return of Wind Breaker, the anime adaptation of Satoru Nii’s manga about Haruka Sakura’s journey from outcast to respected streetfighter at Furin High School. This season, Sakura is a Grade Captain, and he and his crew will continue to protect their town and one another — even as a new villain enters the mix. Stream it on Crunchyroll starting April 3.
Fire Force, season 3
Four years after season 2 of Fire Force ended, the series is back on Crunchyroll and Hulu on April 4. Shinra’s Special Fire Force team was left reeling after Company 4’s Captain Hague was killed. Season 3 will see Company 8 working to rescue Obi while battling The Evangelist — and battling their new reputation as traitors.
From the video game to the screen comes Devil May Cry, an anime series about Dante the mercenary demon hunter who might just be the one to save the world. When demons are on the threshold of invading the human world through a portal, someone has to stop them. In development since 2018, the series finally hits Netflix on April 3, so tune in to see Dante, White Rabbit, Enzo and Mary.
One Piece: Egghead arc
The next installment of the Egghead arc is coming out in April after One Piece took a brief hiatus. When the pirates arrive at Egghead Island, they encounter Dr. Vegapunk and his sophisticated tech. But CP0 is assigned to look into the doc and his plans, which poses a problem for Luffy and the crew. Tune in on Crunchyroll on Saturday, April 5. New episodes of One Piece will also stream on Netflix beginning April 12.
Black Butler: Emerald Witch arc
Teenage Earl Ciel Phantomhive and his demon butler, Sebastian, head to Germany to look into a string of deaths. Their pursuit takes them to the Werewolves’ Forest, where the threat of a curse looms, but the pair are determined to solve the mystery. Stream it on Crunchyroll on April 5.
College student Koichi Haimawari is living an average life in a world where superpower Quirks are the norm, then he’s recruited by the hero Knuckleduster to work with him — vigilante style. Enter the world of My Hero Academia in a new way when this prequel series arrives on Crunchyroll on April 7.
Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary, season 2
A breakup at the end of season 1 of Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary left viewers wondering how Kobato and Osanai will fare with new love interests, but this series is about more than that. Strap in for more mysteries as this pair work together to “stay ordinary” while looking into cases. Season 2 arrives on Crunchyroll on April 5.
Mono
Want something lighthearted to watch? Check out Mono, an adaptation of Afro’s manga that follows a group of high school girls who launch a club. Their Cinephoto club combines the love of photography with videography, and members Satsuki, An and Sakurako dart around the city to collect footage when they’re selected to be characters in a manga. Stream it on April 12 on Crunchyroll.
An adaptation of Motoo Nakanishi’s manga, the series takes viewers from the Edo period into the Heisei period. The story follows an orphan named Jinta, who becomes a sword-wielding guardian of a shrine after he and his sister wind up in a spiritually protected village. An encounter with a demon leaves him with a warning about a Demon God in the future, thus kicking off Jinta’s journey through time as a demon hunter. Stream it on HiDive beginning Monday, March 31 at 8:30 a.m. ET. New weekly episodes will then air each Monday at 11 a.m. ET.
