The total weight of eight diamonds on display at Sotheby’s exhibition is over 700 carats. They include red, yellow, pink and colorless diamonds.

Visitors focus on South Africa’s 10-carat blue diamonds, considered one of the most important blue diamonds ever. Sotheby is expected to be auctioned for $20 million in May.

Quig Bruning, head of jewelry at North America, Europe and the Middle East, said that due to the strong interest in diamonds in the Gulf countries, they chose Abu Dhabi to attend the current exhibition.

“We are very optimistic about the area,” he said. “We think very strongly that this is the kind of place for merchants and collectors of diamonds of this importance and this rarity.”
