A six-year-old girl died, and two other children crashed Sunday afternoon near Fraser Heights in Surrey.

Police have responded to reports that a crash involving three children at the intersection of 164th and 108th Streets was reportedly reported.

Police said the driver of a gray pickup truck attacked the children and fled the scene. Despite first responders’ efforts, the six-year-old boy died of injuries.

A seven-year-old girl suffered upper body injuries and a 16-year-old boy suffered leg and torso. Both were taken to the hospital for further treatment, and police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

At least one parked vehicle was reportedly found shortly after 5 p.m. near 101 Avenue and 160 Street.

“Police were on the scene soon and managed to find the driver and arrest them,” said the staff sergeant, Lindsey Houghton, told CBC News.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but Holden said alcohol could be a contributing factor.

“Today we have to provide some very sad, unfortunate and miserable news,” he said. “It’s not only the worst nightmare for a family, but it’s also the worst nightmare for the police.”

The collision scene was recorded in the background with an ambulance and a police car.
